John Martin Companies completed the transformation of a former retail coin shop into the Winnetka outpost for Hewn Bakery, a well-known North Shore artisan bakery brand. The project required a full interior retrofit to accommodate commercial baking operations, customer service space, and a warm retail environment consistent with the Hewn brand.

Working closely with architect Julie Fisher and the ownership team, JMC helped guide the project through value engineering and constructability planning to maintain the design intent while managing budget constraints. Several trades were self-performed to improve schedule efficiency and reduce costs for the client.

The completed space provides a highly functional production and retail environment while maintaining the welcoming neighborhood feel that Hewn Bakery is known for in the North Shore community.
