John Martin Companies is thrilled to be working at the famous the Knickerbocker Hotel in Chicago’s Magnificent Mile/Streeterville district. This project entails a full replacement of the mechanical chiller and boiler plant for the 100-year-old building. Working with both the Millennium Hotels and Resorts and the engineering team Diligent Design Group Inc. (DDG), the John Martin team built a logistics plan & schedule to execute the project that maintains zero down time. The project highlights recently included lowering the new 300-ton chillers down elevator shafts in the middle of the day. The new gas engine chillers are a great replacement for the old absorption chillers that are heavily prevalent throughout the city of Chicago.
